Saturday 04/23/22The Crocodile Presents:TUNIC+ STAHVw/ Zook Raught$13 ADV / $15 DOS9pm doors // 9:30pm show 21+ At Clock OutTunic: Quitter is a record about quitting.Modelled after Tunics live attack, an ugly and unhinged blast of catharsis that can comfortably live beside the tuneful noise of Metz, the spazzy-goth freakouts of Daughters and the riffy melodicism of Pile, the sophomore release from the acrobatic post-hardcore crew is a record about discomfort created in comfort, realtively anyway. Built over the course of seven days with producer Jace Lasek, Tunic was primed and ready by the time core members guitarist/vocalist David Schellenberg and drummer Daniel Unger set foot into Private Ear Studios in January 2020: It was a relaxed environment because we had done our homework, recalls Schellenberg. That made for a much better record because we knew who we were and what we wanted to sound like.STAHV:Seattle-based experimental artist STAHV is a shape-shifting one-person act that KEXP describes as combining elements of heavy psych-rock, doom metal, post-rock, noise-rock, and more. Live, STAHV has supported The Well, The Obsessed, Scott Kelly of Neurosis, Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, Mirrors for Psychic Warfare, Indian, Mondo Generator, and Yawning Man. The band has also appeared on curated festivals like Northwest Terror Fest, Rat City Recon, and Freakout Fest. The latest release from STAHV, Electric Youth, is a full-album cover of Electric by The Cult.

Their debut album was recorded at Infrasound Studio, San Pedro, Los Angeles with Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta). In November 2012, they supported the English band The Vaccines on their UK tour. They opened for English rock band Muse in Finland, Germany and the Baltic states. In April 2013 the duo released the four-track EP Get Deap produced by Lars Stalfors. In May 2013, they appeared on BBC2s Later With Jools Holland. In June 2013, they appeared at the Glastonbury Festival and Bonnaroo Music Festival.Low Hums:The fifth full-length LP by Seattles cinematic garage slackers has a hint of the concept album about it space travel, both outwards and into the recesses of ones own mind, is a recurring theme, as is the sun-baked space of deserts. Though this is a record thats as much about moving your body as it is about exploring the cosmos. Three Stones In The Night brings out the bands rock swagger, whereas Ghost Babe channels a garage-punk spirit, with twin guitars weaving against a backdrop of reedy 60s organ stabs. Tunnel Of Light is a cosmic-country number inspired by a Psilocybin trip the band took at a festival. For all these stylistic shifts, the locked-in grooves, storytelling and continuity of sound add up to an enticing listening experience. Edgy, and with a touch of something dark and dangerous, Zzyzx draws you in like a seedy nightclub.
