Mad Meow Music & Loosegroove Records Present: Paul Solger 20 Years M.I.A. Record Release Party

Mad Meow Music & Loosegroove Records Present:Paul Solger 20 Years M.I.A. Record Release PartyFeaturing performances byPaul Solger and the Subsonic Six (Dejha Colantuono, Duff McKagen, Sam Bligh, Steve Ross, Barb Ireland, Lauren Goffin)with Thee DeceptionSat May 23Doors 8pm21+$20adv/$25doshttps://paul-solger.bandcamp.com/album/20-years-m-i-aPioneering Pacific Northwest punk rock/hardcore luminary Paul Solger will release his first-ever solo album, 20 Years M.I.A., on May 8 via Loosegroove Records, the label co-founded by Stone Gossard. The raw, blistering eleven-track set includes standouts like the LP opener, first single, and video New American, featuring Duff McKagan on lead vocals, as well as My 3rd Dream, Surfing In Hell, and Mushroom Mary. Co-produced by Solger, Gossard, and Josh Evans, the album further expands Loosegrooves ongoing commitment to championing Seattles underground music scene.Solger first made his mark with the band Solger, one of the earliest hardcore groups to emerge from Seattle. The bands brief existence produced a rare self-titled 7-inch EP that has since become a sought-after collectors item among punk crate diggers. Following that project, Solger remained active in the local scene, performing with influential Seattle punk bands such as The Fartz and later 10 Minute Warning, a group that fused hardcore roots with heavier, psychedelic influences and included musicians who would later help shape the citys emerging alternative rock movement. From my perspective, the post-punk pathways that Paul and Duff explored during the early 80s Seattle music scene are the foundation of what came to be known as grunge, says Gossard. 20 Years M.I.A. embodies that collaborative hardcore punk attitude with slinky, trans-harmonic nods to The Stooges and 60s psychedelia. Now that 20 Years M.I.A. is finally coming out, I think I need to actually play these songs live to make sure its all real. The whole journey seems too good to be true. Things like this record just dont happen for me. Ive had other stuff come out, but it was all mostly subpar sound quality and nothing I felt particularly proud of. Different story with this slab of vinyl, concludes Solger. I hope its the first of many more until I can no longer do it due to old fricking age. Im surprised Im still here. I was probably voted one of the most likely to drop long ago, but people change (if they want to survive) and yes there are second chances in this world. Why now? I dont know, but its made this chapter of my life brilliant!

KEXP/Sonic Reducer & Clock-Out Lounge Present: The Briefs The DrownsThe Coolers Saturday March 7th8:30 doors 21+$22adv/$25doshttps://thebriefs.bandcamp.com/musicHitting their 25 year anniversary and forever moving forward, THE BRIEFS have been busy in 2024/2025 playing packed shows to both sides of the pond, releasing new singles on TKO Records, rereleasing back catalogue and keeping their feet firmly planted on the sticky punk rock floor from where they started. THE BRIEFS live shows continue to ignite crowds, reaffirming their status as punk rock stalwarts. Theirrelentless touring and dynamic performances have garnered the band a fierce following that spans decades– and fads. This quarter-century of mayhem traces back to the bands unlikely start: Like a scud missile from outer space, their debut album Hit After Hit set out to destroy thenew Millenniums flaccid alt-rock scene in 2000and, in turninspired two decades of raucous radioactive fallout. Sewing together a tattered tapestry of 70s-style punkwith a nod toward Dangerhouse Records, DEVO, Thrasher Magazine, and ABBAtheyve urged countless kids to grab a junk guitar, a pair of second-hand sunglasses, and a bottle of peroxide. What started with four idiot savants in a downtown Seattle basement has led to a remarkable ride, spawning some of the catchiest anti-hits this side of Y2K. Off the Charts,Sex Objects and Steal Yer Heart are more than essential punk classicsthey may have aided in reversing punks once terminal diagnosis. Whats next? THE BRIEFS legacy has proven to be as sticky as industrial hold hairspray. A mid-2000s hiatussaw members forming side projects like Sharp Objects, The Cute Lepers, and Suspect Parts, but all roads led back to THE BRIEFS. Following their Singles Only box set and Odd Numbers, demos and rarities release, 2018 album Platinum Rats proved the band to be as vital as ever (a US tour with the legendary Dead Boys followed). For this unstoppable force, the radiation is still in the water andgood news for our speciesthe punk rock mutations are alive and kicking. After 25 years, THE BRIEFS are still weird, still wired.https://thedrowns.bandcamp.com/https://thecoolers253.bandcamp.com/

Clock-Out Lounge Presents: Ya Tseen (record release) w/ Ashley Young

Clock-Out Lounge Presents:Ya Tseen record releaseAshley Young Friday Jan 16th8:30 doors 21+ $25 adv/$30 dos https://yatseen.bandcamp.com/album/stand-on-my-shouldersYa Tseen (previously Indian Agent, Silver Jackson) has performed across North America, Europe, and Australia, most recently with Portugal the Man and Samantha Crain to fund the rebuilding of a Tlingit clan house in Sitka. As Ya Tseen, the band has expanded into a musical project, a fluid collective woven from numerous voices and sonic signatures.Ya Tseens first album with Sub Pop Indian Yard included collaborations with Shabazz Palaces, Stas THEE Boss, Nick Hakim and continued his long term collaborations with O.C.Notes, Zak D. Wass, Tunia, Jesse Hughey, supported by Derek Haukaas (drums), Nikko Van Wycke (Bass), Jase Ihler (drums). With their second release on Sub Pop Ya Tseen expands their collaborative approach, featuring Portugal The Man, Meshell Ndegeocello, dreamcastmoe, Anel Figueroa, Jahon Mikal, Pink Sifu, Sidibe, Hanna Ben, and Ashley Young.Ya Tseens newest album, Stand On My Shoulder, builds on connection and revolutionary love as the foundation for collective liberation that ran throughout Indian Yard. The album cover art is a monoprint created by Galanin, based on a photograph of his father in Tlingit regalia. The regalia remains, but the wearer isnt visible, leaving space to be filled by future generations. With Stand On My Shoulder Ya Tseen uplifts the gifts given to us by our ancestors and the collective responsibilities we have to future generations. The album is an incandescent exploration of existence and a celebration of the persistence of love and connection to Land.https://ashleydaydreaming.bandcamp.com/Just below the Arctic Circle, a songwriter with fiery, lush vocal texture warms her ancestral land Alaska. Ashley Young invites you in like a friend with her refreshing honesty & infectious laughter. Her unquenchable curiosity has led her to exploring expressions unbound by genre. Her focus is rather on using music to reveal vulnerable truths that many experience but are often afraid to discuss.
